Privacy Policy
Leeds Zone (“we”, “us”) is an independent Leeds United news site. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use leedszone.net, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it under UK GDPR.
What we collect
If you use our Contact form, we collect the name, email address, subject and message you submit, so we can read and reply to it. If you email us directly, we receive whatever information is in that email.
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical data for every visit — such as IP address, browser type and pages requested — for security and to keep the site running reliably. We also work out, in aggregate, roughly what share of visits come from search engines, social media or direct links, using the page you arrived from — this is anonymous and isn’t tied to you individually.
We set one essential item to remember your light/dark mode preference; this doesn’t require consent as it’s strictly necessary for the site to function as you’ve set it up. See our Cookie Policy for the full detail on this and on advertising cookies.
We don’t currently run advertising on the site. When we do (via Google AdSense), that service will set its own cookies and collect additional data as described in our Cookie Policy, you’ll be asked for consent before any non-essential cookies are set, and we’ll update this page accordingly.
Why we collect it
We use Contact form submissions solely to respond to your message. We use technical hosting logs to keep the site secure, diagnose issues, and understand basic usage. We don’t sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
Who we share it with
We use third-party infrastructure providers — currently Vercel (hosting) and Neon (database) — to run the site. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy standards, and we don’t give them permission to use it for their own purposes. Once advertising is enabled, Google will also process data for ad delivery as described in our Cookie Policy.
How long we keep it
We keep Contact form submissions for as long as reasonably needed to deal with your enquiry, and delete them once they’re no longer needed. Hosting logs are retained by our infrastructure providers for a limited period for security purposes.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, request a copy of it, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how it’s used. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can also complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves — for example, when we add advertising or reader accounts. Any changes will be posted on this page.
